Post Falls is located four miles east of the Washington-Idaho border along Interstate 90 in Kootenai County and is bounded by Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to the east, the State of Washington to the west, the Spokane River to the south and the Rathdrum prairie to the north.  Post Falls is 20 miles east of Spokane, Washington and approximately 100 miles south of the Canadian border.

With higher learning institutions like Gonzaga University, Eastern Washington University, Witworth University, and North Idaho College, and extension campuses for University of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State College, all within an hour’s drive of Post Falls, there are many opportunities for quality workforce education. NIC’s Workforce Training Center in Post Falls offers open enrollment career or job-related classes in a variety of subject areas to enhance skills for employment. Business Incentives – All businesses are eligible for:

  • 3% investment tax credit on all new tangible personal property (machinery and equipment) with a carryover of 14 years, or a two-year exemption from all taxes on personal property on the qualified investment (can offset up to 50% of income tax liability)
  • Personal property tax exemption on the first $100,000 of personal property, such as equipment and furnishings
  • 5% tax credit on qualified research expenses
  • Energy conservation rebates through efficient energy use up to $100,000 per year per site

Opportunity Zones – New incentive for investing in designated low-income cities, counties, and tribes in Idaho. Opportunity Zones are a new community development program established by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to encourage long-term investments in low-income urban and rural communities. Private investment vehicles that place 90 percent or more of their funds into an Opportunity Zone can earn tax relief on the capital gains generated through those investments. Tax benefits increase the longer investments are in place.
